Ingredients
- 4 cups Basmati rice
- 8 cups water
- 2 tbsp salt
- ½ cup peas
- 1 tbsp cumin seeds
- 4 tbsp pav bhaji powder
- ½ stick Butter (dairy/vegan)
- 1 cup diced onions to garnish
- Wedges of 4 lemon
- Cilantro to garnish
- 4 cups Bhaji gravy (prepare an extra batch of bhaji for rice)
Steps
1. Rinse and soak rice for 20 minutes.
2. In a pot, add water, rice, salt and peas.
3. Cook on high heat until the water starts to boil.
4. Reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a lid.
5. Wait for 20 minutes or until the rice is cooked.
6. In a pan, heat butter, add cumin seeds, pav bhaji powder and 2 cups of Bhaji gravy.
7. Add cooked rice and mix all ingredients.
8. Adjust the spice level with red chili powder, pav bhaji powder and salt.
9. Garnish with butter pieces, chopped onions, cilantro and lemon wedges.
