Ingredients

  • Basmati Rice – 1 cup
  • Water – 2 cups (double the amount of rice)
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – 1 tbsp
  • Cilantro to garnish
  • Olive oil or Clarified butter (ghee) - 2 tbsp

Steps

  1. Soak rice in water for 15 minutes. Rinse well.
  2. In a pot, heat olive oil or clarified butter (ghee), add cumin seeds and salt.
  3. Add rice and water.
  4. Cook on high heat until the water starts to boil.
  5. Cover the pot and simmer the heat. Let it cook for 20 minutes.
  6. Garnish with cilantro and serve with Chickpea gravy.
