Classes and Camps

Are you in 4th through 8th grade? Green Plate Special has after-school programs and summer camps for you! Join us for cooking classes and garden programs. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Our programs involve both cooking and gardening – you will plant and pick the things you cook!
  • Camps and classes take place on our property in Rainier Valley, on the corner of 25th Ave S and S Walker
  • You will need transportation to and from our garden in Rainier Valley. In some instances, transportation from school to the garden is provided.
  • Generous financial support is available. We have a “Pay What You Can” policy for all of our programs. For more information see the program description below or contact us via email (classes@greenplatespecial.org) or phone (206-602-6845).
  • GPS welcomes all youth regardless of race, color, national origin, immigration status, religion, disability or gender identity.

Family Evening Cooking Classes

Program Description

Knife Skills | Cooking Techniques | Hearty, Balanced Recipes

A series of 6 cooking classes that will explore hearty recipes, balanced meals, and easy-to-find and low-cost ingredients. Share a meal and take home leftovers!

  • Tuesday evenings
  • Youth 9-14 + with or without a parent or guardian

Arrival: 5:30 - 6:00 pm
