Emma is the oldest daughter in a family of seven, born of tenacious immigrant and refugee families. Having grown up in Washington with a Chinese-Vietnamese-American identity, she has a complicated relationship with food, culture, and the land. She seeks to empower those around her in their journeys of connection with these things as she continues to explore them herself.

Though Emma is currently taking a break from her studies at the University of Washington, she remains committed to education in alternative forms. She loves engaging with young people and supporting their development, which she did most recently at her neighborhood Boys & Girls Club. This past summer, she also spent time learning from the folks of Hilltop Urban Gardens down in Tacoma, forming relationships with plants and practicing food justice. Emma is excited to bring all of these passions together at Green Plate Special, and looks forward to growing alongside people and plants (and chickens) alike, inside and outside the garden.
