Kellan’s first experience teaching youth and gardening came when she lived in Tucson, Arizona and was working towards her BA in Anthropology. What started out as a class internship on an educational farm turned into two years of playing in the dirt, taking care of chickens, and helping youth harvest and eat farm fresh vegetables.

After she left Tucson, she was lucky enough to keep working with youth in various positions, including working at a food bank in Idaho, teaching English in Taiwan, and teaching career readiness at an alternative high school in Portland.

As a summer intern at GPS, Kellan is excited to hang out with youth in the garden, master her knife skills, and contribute to creating a space where youth feel heard and empowered.
