Our curriculum-based, pay-what-you-can programs progress from basic food knowledge to advanced gardening and cooking skills.
We enhance learning opportunities by interweaving food growing and cooking with academic subjects such as math, science, and history — practice baking skills while learning about the science of liquids and solids!
Our youth eat a snack or meal during programming and often to take home a sample of what we cook together, as well as vegetables we grow in the garden.

We often work closely with partner organizations including nonprofits and schools, and customize our programs to integrate with our partners’ programs.
January through March
Never a dull moment at Green Plate Special! During the academic year our garden and kitchen are packed with programs created in partnership with Seattle schools and nonprofits.
This winter we are excited to continue our weekly Washington Middle School and Atlantic Street Center after-school programs, as well as our Madrona K-5 in-school programs. We're also back at Beacon Hill International Elementary School through our partnership with Invest In Youth, we have four Teens as Parents sessions on the calendar, AND we are hosting a field trip for Links in March.
Spring Break Camp and all seven Summer Camps are now open for registration. :O
Seed-to-table camp experiences for youth grades 4th - 8th! Learn exciting recipes, knife skills, and cooking techniques. Plant seeds, learn about the earth, and explore the Green Plate Special garden. Befriend our chickens and collect their eggs. Make your own pizza and create food-inspired art projects.
