A Volunteer Opportunity for Green Plate Special Youth, alumni, and their families!

Note: This is not a summer camp! Due to the pause on programming, we have pivoted our garden from a youth learning space to a growing space more focused on production in order to support our Grocery Distribution Project through which we donate grocery bags to families in our community.

This is an unstructured learning opportunity for youth to volunteer in the garden under the guidance of GPS staff. Youth and staff will be working together to help with our summer garden tasks, which include harvesting, weeding, planting, pruning, and processing produce. There is also the option to help out directly with our food distribution efforts.

DETAILS

WHO

This is a volunteer opportunity for 4th grade and up. This is a great opportunity for GPS alumni to participate, or for a youth and an older family member to come together!

WHEN

We'll host youth volunteers in the garden 2 days a week on Mondays and Thursdays on the following dates:

July: 16, 20, 23, 27, 30
August: 3, 6, 10, 13, 17, 20, 24, 27, 31

We'll welcome 2 "households" per day any time between 10-4.

FOOD/BEVERAGES AND SUPPLIES

Snacks, water, and garden tools are provided. If you are here during lunch hours, please bring your own lunch!

We ask that all folks on site wear a face mask, and we have plenty to go around for youth and adults. (Other safety measures include maintaining a social distance of 6 feet, and GPS staff sanitizing all touch surfaces twice daily.)
