This spring we had a visit from a big group from Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences (SAAS). During this field trip, which was this group’s first trip to the garden, we focused on nutrition in the kitchen. We cooked up some nutritious lunch options: soba noodle and rice noodle salads with lots of veggies.
With the SAAS group we discussed digestion and learned how the digestive system of chickens differs from that of humans while spending time with our new flock of pullets. We also talked about sustainability in the garden and discussed the benefits of cover crops. Of course we also did some tasting in the garden and sorrel was a hit, as always!
