Welcoming New Volunteers

17 Feb

Last week we had 17 new volunteers at our volunteer training sessions! Volunteers took a tour of the garden and learned how to clean and store garden tools. We practiced teaching knife skills to youth, and tested our our own knife skills while making a vegetable salad and herb vinaigrette. Each of these awesome volunteers is now equipped to work directly with youth in our garden and kitchen this spring and summer.

We had fun getting to know our new volunteers, who come from many different backgrounds. When we asked them, “What would you like to cook with youth?” we heard answers ranging from sauerkraut to spring rolls to tarte tatin!

Are you interested in working with youth in Green Plate Special’s garden and kitchen? We will post future volunteer training dates on the Volunteer page of our website, and share them on Facebook and Twitter.
